Name: ForcesUnited Operation COVID Shield: Virtual Campaign Kick-Off!
    Date: September 11, 2020
    Time: 8:00 AM - 8:30 AM EDT
    Event Description:
ForcesUnited is a 501-(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to help local service members, veterans, and their families, from all eras—wounded or not—connect with programs and resources that mitigate crisis, improve their lives, and empower them to prosper in our local community. ForcesUnited currently serves 33 counties throughout Georgia and South Carolina assisting more than 2,400 veterans in 2019 and that number is only growing due to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.

When the pandemic crisis began, ForcesUnited jumped into action to provide help on the homefront through Operation COVID Shield. COVID Shield is focused on providing much needed protection for veterans and their families. With a 30% increase in veterans seeking assistance with housing, utilities, transportation, and employment, meeting the rising dollar amount needed to address income shortages and maintaining safe shelter has become our primary objective.

On September 11th, ForcesUnited will launch a two-month campaign to raise awareness and funds to shield our veterans from incurred hardships during the pandemic. This years’ 11-11 campaign (9/11 to 11/11-Veterans Day), Operation COVID Shield addresses awareness in reaching those who want to help and those who need help, while replenishing revenue losses and keeping ForcesUnited advocates on the ground. Support is needed to maintain the organization's foundation that allows for their continued work with veterans and the ability to connect them to the resources they need to address basic quality of life initiatives.

Join us for the 9/11 "Cup of Joe & A Prayer" virtual event! Grab your coffee and experience this live event at the start of an important day in our nation's history. We will hear from veterans’ Ed Tarver, former Georgia Senator and U.S. Senate candidate, and Wendy Perry, Catalyst CEO and ForcesUnited Board Member. They are leading this charge in support of ForcesUnited's service to our growing number of transitioning service members and veterans. Together, we will strengthen our shield for our nation's warriors living in the 33 county service areas in Georgia and South Carolina.
