Camellia City Festival - CancelledAugust 26, 2020
Camellia City Festival Postponed to 2021McDuffie County— The Chamber of Commerce recently met with government and local leadership and the decision has been made to cancel the 2020 Camellia City Festival that was scheduled on October 24th. With the steady increase in COVID cases in our community and statewide, we believe this is the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented time. It would be difficult to control a large function, keeping everyone socially distanced and safe. We are very disappointed that we are unable to hold this festival and kick-off McDuffie County’s 150th Anniversary, but we know it’s the right decision based on the information we have today. “While this is not the outcome we hoped for, we have a mission to protect the quality of life in McDuffie County and we feel this decision is in the best interest of that mission. We look forward to finding innovative ways to celebrate this momentous birthday and the rich history of McDuffie County for the remainder of this year and planning an exciting festival in 2021”, stated Ashley Morey, Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce Board Chair. The Chamber plans to have the festival in October 2021 which will bring a great celebration to end the 150th year. In the meantime, there will be several activities taking place throughout the year to commemorate McDuffie County’s Anniversary.
Chamber staff will be directly contacting registered vendors with refund information. We thank everyone who supported our efforts to host this event and look forward to coming together in October, 2021.
